Navigation Systems Department
Navigation Systems Department
Main business of the department focuses on development and manufacturing of:
- marine visual Aid to Navigation (AtoN) systems and their components
- telematics products, remote monitoring and control systems
- LED-based visual signalling solutions for application in demanding environmental conditions
Department of Navigation Systems (DNS) is the successor of the former Computer R&D Division EKTA that was founded in 1976 at the Estonian Academy of Sciences. which merged with Cybernetica (then, Küberneetika AS) in the course of the Estonian science reform in 1998. Original light emitting diode (LED) based visual light signalling products are marketed under the ekta™ trade mark. Development of software/hardware systems for control, measurement, remote monitoring and power supply allows supply of complete solutions for lighted visual AtoN segment of the marine navigation safety infrastructure. In addition to product development, DNS offers integration and support services for systems supplied.
Since 1993, our team has cooperated with the Estonian Maritime Administration in modernizing the AtoN systems on Estonian waterways. Current activities involve development of AtoN systems with features to support e-Navigation.
From 1998 on, the department (then EKTA) is an industrial member of the International Association of Marine Aids to Navigation and Lighthouse Authorities (IALA ).
Main export markets of our products include EU countries, Malaysia, Norway, Singapore, USA, China, Israel, etc.
